The Players

Meet the Players

Andrew Leber

“Andrew Leber is an avid chess player who has been active in the Ontario chess community for years.
As a chess organizer, he was the president of the McMaster Chess Club in 2018-2019 when he hosted the 2019 Canadian University Chess Championship. He also co-founded the Ontario Student Chess Organization, which hosted tournaments across Ontario for several years, enabling students at schools without a formal chess team to participate in the collegiate chess community.
As a player, he has competed at various tournaments at the local, provincial, and national level. Like many chess players today, he now plays mostly online, but he is looking forward to the biggest (at least physically) game of his chess career!”

Matt Paul

“Life long player of chess who learned the game from his grandfather. I keep active with some chess games with friends and on chess.com.

At a poetry night in Ottawa I challenged a friend to play a game of chess in front of the Parliament Buildings. I enjoy people and making friends. Now making new friends and playing a live human chess game in Niagara Falls.”
